REEFERB'D!

The latest Refurb: Carrera frame with 44x16 singlespeed gearing. Rubino tyres, Selle Italia saddle. A set of very powerful Shimano 500 brakes make this baby stop on the spot.

NOS CAMPA RECORD/GS/PISTA HEADSET PARTS

A selection of NOS Campa headset parts have been added to the sales page. Check it out.

NEW OLD STUFF FOR SALE!

I just posted a bunch of vintage Campagnolo and other goodies on the sales page. Check it out.

RE-REFURBED

The owner of this bike only got to enjoy his new ride for two days before some drunk jerkoff decided to give the rear wheel and fork a karate kick. The result: A broken wheel and a damaged frame.
So I had to rebuild it on another frame, which was a perfect occasion to test the two-component clear coat spray I just bought - a small revolution in DIY bicycle painting. So far it looks pretty sweet. Check out that shine!

THE NEW REFURBS WORKSHOP

The workshop has moved to a smaller location, but at least I can drill whatever I want into the walls, and everything is shaping up. Soon I'll be able to do some work here. I already have the tape recorder with some Redman. Now all I need is a hot pin-up girl for the door and I'll be back to refurbing.

REEEFUUURB'D!

Refurbs proudly presents two new bikes from the workshop:

Koga Miyata frame with singlespeed kit and basic parts.

Bianchi frame with painted fork, Refurbs' first handbuilt rear wheel, black Modolo brakes and white levers. Singlespeed 44x16.

MY SPRING FIXIE

I was stripping down my other fixie for maintenance when I decided to ride a smaller frame this spring. After a long struggle to remove all the paint manually, I gave it a coat of metallic blue and some clear laquer. On with a Tange headset, Nitto stem, one-finger brake lever, Campagnolo Veloce brake, Campy Pista cranks with vintage Record road pedals – and to top it off – my blue anodized Mavic Open Pro rims with Campy Record road hubs. That's right... Refurbs is riding a suicide hub now. This also gave me a chance to learn how to dish a wheel and understand spokes better. Using my new favourite – the rotafix method – the cog is safe and securely fastened. The stem and saddle have been changed since these images were taken. Gearing is 53x20.

REFURB'D!

I recently refurbed this very nice Pinarello road frame. Equipped with Miche Primato hubs, Vittoria Rubino tires, ITM head stem, SR crank copied from Campagnolo, Tange headset, Shimano 600 pedals and white leather on the handlebar. Runs 48x18.

REFURB'D!

A refurbed Peugeot bike. Intentionally kept rusty, but it has of course been cleaned and greased and rolls smoothly. Mostly original parts, but I added a Campagnolo crank and chainwheel and blue Michelin tires.

REFURB'D!

A bruised but very charming BMZ frame from Italy. No fancy parts, but light and smooth to ride. Six gears and fenders for the Danish weather.

NEW STUFF FOR SALE

Check out the new items on the Refurbs sales page. Lots of Shimano 600 and other goodies.

A FAGGIN REFURBED

The latest project from the Refurbs workshop: A red and chrome Faggin (no, it's not a verb) frame with plenty of rust and scratches and a whole lot of charm. Single-speed rear hub and a Weinmann high-profile rim; Shimano Rx100 cranks with random pedals; vintage Benotto brakes and Weinmann old-school levers; a cut-off riser bar with leather wrapping; Michelin tyres.

A REFURBED DADDY'S BIKE

I just can't stop refurbing. This one went to my friend's dad. Equipped with a 3-speed coaster brake wheel, wood fenders, a Brooks saddle, and black suede bar tape.

REFURB'D!

Originally set up as a fixie, this one was instead equipped with a coaster brake wheel.
It's a Tange steel frame that I spray painted with a splatter fade, put on some RX100 cranks, a San Marco saddle, leather bar tape and a vintage Shimano 105 headset. Nothing fancy, but my friend who rides it is very happy.

FRESH FROM THE REFURBS WORKSHOP

Today I finished this fixie for a happy customer: A repainted Motobecane frame with Formula hubs, Sugino Messenger chainring, Paké cranks, and a few other goodies from the parts box.

VINTAGE PEUGEOT FIXIE

I had this old Peugeot frame hanging on the wall in my workshop. It must have an interesting history, because when I found it discarded in a trash yard some years ago, it had California bicycle license stickers that expired in 1981. I rode it as a single speed for a while and liked it a lot.
When my friend wanted a basic fixie, I built this up for him with a white Formula wheelset, a BMX bar and an old Motobecane brake. In the process I learned through painful experience that the old French tube and bottom bracket thread sizes are a bit off-standard, so don't forget to keep all the spares in case you decide to strip down one of these one day.

A BIKE I BUILT FOR A FRIEND

After having his fixie nicked, my friend wanted a simple setup that wouldn't attract too much unwanted attention, so I hooked him up with this lightweight steel Jensen frame in its original dark metallic grey coating, a Benotto fork that I painted for my Pinarello before realizing that it was too short, a Campy Mexico '68 front rim and a converted Shimano RX100 freehub. The holder for his daughter's seat is his own addition. I was glad to learn that 52x16 is perfect for freewheels, so now more of my spares can be put to good use in the future.
