WHAT SUCKS?

Seeing your Campagnolo Pista hub like this does. Yes, I have also read the warning about not using these for off-track riding, and that Campagnolo officially voids the guarantee if you use these in the streets, but did I listen?
I was trackstanding at a red light when I heard a snapping noise, but I couldn't figure out what it was, and I certainly wasn't expecting this. Half an hour later I noticed that my front wheel was suddenly way out of true, so I stopped to inspect it, and to my great horror this is what I saw. I did manage to cautiously ride it all the way home, though.
The high flange hub is radially laced to a high flange rim. I'm no wheel expert, but I remember reading somewhere that this usually results in a not-so-sturdy wheel. Point taken.
So have this in mind the next time you feel tempted to splurge on a pair of Sheriff Star Campy hubs.
